Love Thy Woman to Premiere on Monday

February 8, 2020

KimXi is back with Love Thy Woman.

The upcoming series stars on-and-off screen partners Kim Chiu & Xian Lim, with Yam Concepcion as the third wheeler. They will be joined by Eula Valdes, Sunshine Cruz, and Christopher De Leon. Kim and Xian were last paired in The Story of Us in 2016. Meanwhile, Yam received praises for her antagonist role in hit series Halik.

Love Thy Woman revolves around a modern Filipino-Chinese family headed by patriarch Adam Wong (Christopher), who is determined to keep his family intact despite having two of them, whose wives are in conflict with each other. He lives with his first wife Lucy (Eula) and their daughter Dana (Yam), while his second family, Kai (Sunshine) and Jia (Kim), lives separately. The lives of the Wong clan will change when Dana and her husband David (Xian) get involved in a road accident after their wedding, putting her in a coma. Meanwhile, Jia falls in love with David. This will cause of a series of events that will further convolute their family’s current state. It remains to be seen if Adam can still keep his whole family intact.

Joining the powerhouse cast of Love Thy Woman are Zsazsa Padilla, Ruffa Gutierrez, Jana Victoria, Jennifer Sevilla, Chienna Filomena, China Yoo, David Chua, Shido Roxas, Tim Yap, Kimberly Tan, Mari Kaimo, Tori Garcia, Turs Daza, and Karl Gabriel. The series, which is under Dreamscape Entertainment, is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, Andoy Ranay, and Jerry Lopez Sineneng.

The series was slated to air on primetime as a replacement for The General’s Daughter. However, in July 2019, Erich Gonzales withdrew from the show due to creative differences, stating that her character is being turned to an antagonist, which isn’t part of the plan. As a result, Yam Concepcion took over her role. Now that the series is given the green light and its Primetime Bida block is already occupied, it is left no choice but to air on Kapamilya Gold, leaving fans unsatisfied. And again, it will go head-to-head with the current top-rater Prima Donnas.

The series is following the footsteps of its predecessor Kadenang Ginto, which revolves around the Mondragon family and the rivalry between the patriarch’s daughter and his lover. Knowing KimXi’s past success in primetime, it remains to be seen if the duo can win the hearts of afternoon viewers come Monday.
